Provide counselling and psychological care

Information for service providers

If you are an experienced practitioner and have qualifications related to treating people with complex trauma, you can apply to become a registered Redress Practitioner. The Queensland Government has an approved schedule of fees that will determine how much you will get paid for services provided to an offer of redress under the National Redress Scheme.

People who have received an offer of redress have experienced institutional child sexual abuse and can choose the type of CPC best suited to their needs.

We need practitioners and service providers with a broad range of expertise, including:

  • Counsellors
  • Psychologists
  • Psychiatrists
  • Social workers
  • Mental health nurses
  • Mental health occupational therapists
  • General practitioners
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workers
  • Cultural and traditional healing practitioners
  • Other mental health and therapeutic service providers.

When a person accepts an offer of  redress that includes access to CPC, the Redress Counselling Team helps them find a suitable Redress Practitioner.

If the person already has a counsellor or psychological care service provider they wish to continue to work with, the Redress Counselling Program Team will check to see if their practitioner is willing and eligible to apply for registration as a Redress Practitioner.

The steps you need to take to apply to be registered as a Redress Practitioner are different depending on whether you are listed in the Trauma Support Directory or if you are a registered psychiatrist.
